What's New?

In the course of building other sites on the Redpark Framework, I sometimes build pieces which should be incorporated into the base install. The "What's New" module is an example.

Hello-
This is a test site for a website framework I'm building. There's not much here of interest to the general public, but it's not really a secret, either, so look around if you feel like it.

Recently, I've been updating the code for the newer versions of PHP and MySQL. Out with the mysql functions, in with the mysqli functions.

Part of the content will be about the platform and its merits, some will be random gibberish. Sometimes I'll just throw up some placeholder garbage, sometimes I'll address the merits of the platform. None of it will be carefully proofread or thought out.

Re-designing the wheel

I've been developing database-driven websites for the entire 21st Century. I've found that I keep re-inventing the same wheels over and over. I need a shopping cart for site B, it's similar to the one I built for site A, but it's different in some important aspects, so I wind up spending several hours recombobulating the thing. Then site C comes along, and it needs feature from both. More recombobulation. This framework will combine the best features of many sites into one owner-maintainable, simple-to-install, simple-to-configure, and simple-to-modify package.

Advantages of this platform over the zillions already out there
  • 100% certified free of code bloat
  • 100% certified free of gratuitous fur-fru
  • Easily adaptable and expandable
  • Basic site features pre-configured
  • Easily changed visual design elements

This framework is being developed by Garth Hagerman . It's coded from scratch, using XHTML, PHP, MySQL, and CSS.
